On the very first lighting, burn your candle for at least three hours to avoid tunneling. After that, do not burn your candle for more than three hours at a time. Once there is only ½ inch of wax left, it’s time for a new candle. Trimming your wick between each burn is a must to avoid overheating and smoking.
